We hopped off the boat in Dusseldorf this morning and spent the morning in Venlo at the Floriade. Ginny and I had already gone there on September 18th, so this was a few more hours to see what we had missed before. Again, the weather was crappy, but so what. It is better than sitting at home and watching television. After we finished at the Floriade we went to Cologne where the boat had repositioned to and went aboard for lunch. In the afternoon there was a walking tour of Cologne which included, of course, the Cathedral. Some people get bored and start writing "ABC" in their diaries. That means another bloody church, castle, cathedral, etc. I personally find them all very interesting. This particular structure was strted in 1248 and finished in 1880. The most interesting thing to see in the cathedral was this shrine of the three kings. It was built in the lated 12th century and is supposed to contain the bones of the Three Kings. Whether it does contain those relics or not doesn't concern me. I just say OK and assume it is true because that makes a cool story.
