We had another very interesting day with Pieter and Rix. We went to the market in Roden then headed out to a prison museum in Veenhuizen. A last stop before dinner was this hunebed near Steenbergen. There are many hunebedden in the province of Drenthe. Indeed there are thousands of them all over the world. They are generally referred to as dolmen and are believed to be burial sites. This particular one is called D-1. Although it may look like a pile of rocks, it is easy to step back and imagine ancient people dancing around the structure in some ancient ritual. I spent a couple minuted doing that. Then I came to my senses and headed back to the car because I knew that dinner was just a few kilometers away.
