We planned to go for a visit to Groningen today, but it was raining. So, we went to Plan B which was Plan A with rain gear. Pieter and Rix led us through the city which is a very nice place. One of the highlights was a climb up the Martinitoren, a tower built in the late 1400s. Ginny counted 261 steps to arrive at the level of the clocks. On the way up we saw these giant bells. You could push a button to hear a recording of the individual bells. I would imagine that if they were really ringing, the sound would be deafening. We had a nice lunch and we discovered that the Dutch like coupons just as much as Americans! Toward the end of the day it started to rain fairly heavily, but fortunately we were on a bus headed home. Fun for all.
