Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Big deal, I hear you say. Well, it has been an American institution for 46 years and it is football after all. I know many people pull together parties and the like. This year the game isn't important to me because neither the Packers nor the Texans are playing. Nonetheless, it should be a pretty good game.
In preparation for the big game, I decided to make some snacks. One of my favorites is guacamole. Add some chips and popcorn (and beer of course) and you get a nice bunch of stuff to consume while watching the game.
I have been watching the food channel and the cooking channel a lot lately because there is just too damned much politics on many of the others. One show I particularly like is Nadia G's Bitchin' Kitchen. It is pretty clever. Anyway when you watch all the high brow cooking stuff with all these super chefs, you keep hearing a foreign phrase, "mis en place." I figured it had to be french since french and chefs seem to go together. So I google translated it and was pleased to find that, loosely translated, it means "get your sh!t together."
A note for my sons: You will note the Bud Heavy on the cutting board. I had a few left over from our last road trip and decided that Bud goes well with football.
