After church this morning I went out to the airport intent on having a productive day. The first thing I did was install the new crankshaft seal. I was thinking it was going to be a pain, but it worked pretty well. You actually use rubber cement on the outside to keep it from spinning in the counterbore. That provided plenty of slip to help seat it.
The next thing I decided to tackle was reinstalling the brake links on the rudder pedals. This is agonizing because it is very painful to lay down and get under the instrument panel. After a copious amount of cussing, I got the tops attached. Well, it turns out that I put them on the outside rather than the inside where they shoud be. You can see the two brake links hanging from the belcranks that attach to the brake cylinders. I am stupid. I should have checked the fit before I struggled to put in the cotter pins. I was sufficiently aggravated that I decided to call it a day and head home for a bacon sandwich and a beer.
Yes, that is 5606 fluid on the support. I promise to wipe it off in the near future.
