My friend Tom Beech enquired about the status of the Swift. Well, I started into an annual and decided that I was going to fix all the stuff that has been on the "to do later" list for the last ten years. I got to working on one of the items today - repairing or replacing the seat backs. They are cracked badly and I either have to repair them or find replacements. So far, everybody I have spoken to has no idea what the origin is. Still looking into that one. Might take a while. Repairing the cracks will take some time and some luck.

I think I am going to fabricate a new one. It is a pretty simple piece.

No need to get out the Bondo, duct tape, or fiberglass---the simplest repair is to cut off the portion containing the cracks. 1-2-3 and done!

Makes me think I'm glad I don't fly in light aircraft

Clean, clamp, TIG weld ?

Anything broken can be repaired.
Generally vastly cheaper than replacing.
As long as the repair is done properly, no bodging.
If you repair, post the photo of it.

If push comes to shove, and you don't have to stay with Swift parts, this one had Cessna 150 seats and they seemed to fit well and looked just fine.
