Ginny invited Pat and her daughter Becca over for a Wine & Whine this evening. I like it when she does that for two reasons. First is the entertainment value. These get togethers are always a hoot. Second, Pat usually brings her famous hot cheese spread, and tonight was no exception. If you look very carefully at the table, you will see 12 wine glasses. Why would we need 12 wine glasses? Ginny decided to have a wine tasting. I finally figured out that what she really wanted was to open three bottles of wine so we had to drink them all. Needless to say, a good time was had by all.

An interesting thing happened in the course of the "wine tasting." Ginny got out a brick of cheese and cheese plane to slice it. Becca asked what the cheese plane was. She had never seen one. I guess she lives a sheltered life over there at the Quinlan household.

John, are you happy with the sharpness of the G11, the pics look a little soft to me. Of course, comparing the magainst the 5D is a pointless exercise but they seem softer than I would expect.

Thank you for the education. Please pass the wine and cheese. :-)

The crowd decided that the Australian Chardonnay beat out the California Chardonnay. Since we had less than 9 dollars invested in the three bottles of wine, you can see that our wine tasting acumen might be somewhat suspect. The third bottle, a shiraz, was used as a chaser. The girls like white wine so I ended up chasing most of the red. I would do anything for these ladies. As long as Pat keeps bringing her cheese melt, that is.

This does look like a plane good time.
I never understood why cheese, crackers and fruit tastes
so good with wine.
Which bottle won in the wine tasting?

For those of you living under a rock:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheese_plane

John-I like just about any cheese, the stronger the better.

I like a plain cheese, occasionally.

What the heck is a cheese plane? I must have been sheltered too.

Actually, she did get several small glassses, but she was the designated driver.

Poor Becca, never gets a glass
