Seen it all before.

Putney Embankment

Every month a full moon.
Every month a high tide.
Every high tide, cars get flooded.
Been watching this happen for 50 plus years.

To make things worse, he left his lights on. I'm sorry, but he is a disgrace. My report will be on your desk first thing tomorrow morning, Agent Cooper.

I swim corrected. Obviously, I missed the sign too. Excuse me while I go get some towels, my monitor seems to have gotten wet.

Jason,
look at thishttp://www.pbase.com/john_cooper/image/48000022
There are warning signs all along the embankment. For some reason I have never worked out, people park directly under the signs. Then come back at high tide, and look in utter amazement at their cars under water.
I now look at the local tide tables, especially so I can go there at high tide and get some good pictures.

I'm shocked that there isn't a warning sign here. Maybe it's due to a backlog at the sign-maker. There is all that ice to warn people about, after all.

Have to agree with Sunny - and its so true that anyone who would park there would be dumb enough to think that "National Service would have made them think and do the job properly" - the only thing National Service ever did was waste incredible sums of money - see Corelli Barnett's books on Britain after WWII

Good idea to leave the lights on so you could find it afterwards.
Shows forward thinking.

Sunny took the words out of my mouth, with more insight into local culture than I could have mustered.

ahh. look, an empty parking space in the middle of London, right by the river. No parking meter. No yellow lines, Isnt that a stroke of luck dear? Shame the river is so narrow, I thought it should be wider than this. Lets leave the car and go shopping. Its great to save the £5 parking fee isnt it? Damn useless council though, cant even pour the concrete level. Must have used illegal immigrant labour. Theyre not very bright down at that council office. In my day, National Service would have made them think and do the job properly.
