The Ancient Ritual of Sandhill Cranes

In early spring hundreds of thousands of Sandhill Cranes stop in the Central Platte Valley of Nebraska on their way to their Artic breeding grounds. The mile-wide and inch-deep qualities of the Platte (French for “flat”) River and the abundance of cornfields in the surrounding valley provide an ideal rest stop for the migrating Sandhill Cranes. The reward for the people who come here in early spring to witness the largest gathering of cranes in the world is an unparalleled experience that leaves an indelible mark; a rare glimpse into an ancient world that is both breathtaking and beautiful.
