Well, Dorothy arrived on friday & this was the first thing to catch my eye.
It was on her bright orange jacket... which we used to "spot" her on all our later excursions. |
After we picked her up, we decided to go to a local gallery. We made a stop at a rock & bead shop first. The owner offered to let us root through his warehouse!!! Hours later we left there and went to a kitchen store. Then hunger took over and we went to a wonderful seafood buffet for a liesurely dinner. We never did make it to the gallery. :::grin:::
We got a bunch of flat backed rhinestones & other sparklies for embedding in clay... then we all split everything with each other. I think we ended up with 43 different beads. |
Dorothy brought WONDERFUL things for us to shop amongst! Like we didnt have ENOUGH opportunity to spend! LOL! |
Dorothy's most beauteous class samples. |
We got right to work Saturday morning... starting with blends! |
Um... that was a good place to stop. After all... the blending made the clay really soft. yah, that's it... the blends needed to cool. It had NOTHING at all to do with the huge rubber stamp show going on down at the beach. Nope. Nuthin' at all.
However.. since we HAD to stop... it would be a shame to miss it. Right? |
Then we REALLY got serious! Here's Dorothy confabbing with Miss Irene. |
Me & Cathy are paying rapt attention of course! |
Here's Dorothy showing us how to use the shapelets. |
And how to cut our pieces out after we finish them. |
And how to build a backing on them if we want one. |
How to make it thicker if we want holes & use a guide to get straight holes. |
How to open up the holes and clean them up. |
How to add a bail if we don't want to use holes. |

 A closer look. |
Cathy with one of her pieces. |
Here's more of Cathy's pieces... she really caught on, didn't she? |
Here's Denise & Irene looking over Irene's cane boxes. |
Here's Irenes pieces from the class... oh my! |
 Happy Denise BunnyNose!!! |
Some of Denise's class pieces. |
 Here's some of Jo's wonderful pieces! |
Wah... and my ugly ones! I did do some I like better.. they're at the bottom of the gallery page. |
Here's Denise showing one of her pretties. |
These are something that Denise is working on for Irene... still in the preliminary stage. |
Here's Irene rubbing them aaaaaall over her body! |
Irene's cutie pie mother is from the Ukraine & she makes these wonderful boxes! |
She makes a LOT of them... and sent one down for everybody in the class!!! |
Look at these two great pieces that Jo brought to show!!! |
Everyone seemed fascinated with the big tray of bugs. :::grin::: |
Cathy brought a big Box'O'Bugs to show off too! |
And Irene brought her cane boxes! |
Of course we had to play with EVERY stamp we bought at the show. |
Miss Sara was quite comfy right in the middle of things the whole time. |
Helen brought me this great flexible fish! I've figured out how it's made and can't wait to try it in clay!!! |
Speaking of fish... no visit to my house is complete without a pond shot! |
The Motley Crew.I don't know what made us wait till the very last morning to take this shot.
We are all sooooooo tired from late nights and hard days! Happy tired though.
What a bedraggled bunch we are! And we're missing one of our group... Laura
didn't get to spend the night with us... but she's there in spirit.

Here's a piece I made in Dorothy's class and finished off later. |
 And another. |
Here's a fun piece I made after taking Dorothy Greynolds class. |
I also got fascinated with the whole ghost image thing we learned in Dorothy's class.
I made these pendants using that technique. |
