This How-To shows how to build a Simple Striped Cane
and some of the ways you can dress it up & use it, including
how to use it to make a checked border on another cane!

You'll continue to cut & stack until you have a nice beefy block of stripes.

Then you'll use a nice new sharp blade to trim up the edges. There you have a striped cane, EASY!

You can now wrap your cane with one of more colors and reduce for use.

OR... you can cut your stack into quarters...

... and put back together to form a design.

Then you could choose to wrap that in another color.

THEN you might choose to add a checked border by slicing into another striped cane. Using those slices on the outside edge of your cane to form a checked edge.

I like to reduce to several sizes. I use the scrap ends of the canes for inside beads & bugs!
