B-17G "Nine O Nine"

"Nine O Nine" is a B-17G is operated by the Collings Foundation as an educational exhibit. It is one of only 14 airworthy B-17's in the world and continues to fly as a tribute to those who served in WWII.

We were priviledged to see this aircraft, as well as her traveling partner the B-24 "Witchcraft", on their stopover at the Montgoemry County Airpark in Gaithersburg, MD.

On October 2, 2019, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress privately owned by the Collings Foundation crashed at Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut, United States. Seven of the thirteen people on board were killed, and the other six, as well as one person on the ground, were injured. The aircraft was destroyed by fire, with only a portion of one wing and the tail remaining.

I, too, have been aboard this B-17G. it is a wonderful piece of WW II history and i felt priveledged to see it and the B-24 (at the time it was "A Dragon and its Tail") about 8 years ago. the pictures are great! thanks for the memories!
