Pilot Mountain is near Mount Airy, North Carolina, which is the birthplace of Andy Griffith. If you remember much from his TV show, Andy would sometimes have to travel to the big city of Mount Pilot, which was a play on the name of Pilot Mountain. The website for the town of Mt.
