To be honest the pic could be sharper.Even if the lens is stabilised 1/400 sec would be a better speed or a tripod.For me this lens could maybe too heavy in my hands.

I think Steve missed out that it is a stabilized lens, right Jack? Nice shot of a beautiful bird. A bit different from the scrub jays we have here.

Was this handheld? If so good sharpness considering. Without stabilization, the odds of a sharp shot go down quite rapidly when you drop below the old rule of 1/focal length for shutter speed. I thinkit was Rockwell who sort of put percentages to it. Something like less than 25% were reasonably sharp when shooting at half the shutter speed of the rule of thumb. If this was on tripod, forget everything I just said. LOL
