8/11: What Kind of Tree?

I'm 43 years old and I am just now noticing these beautiful pink trees.
Can anyone tell me what kind of tree it is?
They have brilliant pink blossoms and very sharp thorns on the limbs.

I have been unable to comment lately but will be around to your galleries soon!

I think this tree is a Monkey Puzzle tree. We had lots of them in New Orleans until a severe freeze in the 1960's.

You are 43! Wow. This is a Jeremy tree.... kinda captures your sometimes twisted humor ;--)

I know it looks similar to the Hong Kong Orchid tree, but I believe your tree is Chorisia speciosa.
Beautiful images of them.

I think it is an orchid tree. I've got one in my yard and they sure are gorgeous in bloom.

Do not know except that it looks like a great climbing tree.

Good PAD choice. I like the abstract feel

WOW! This is a gorgeous tree!
I know it's not a pine tree (offered the Canuklehead!)!!!!!
Amazing bark and blossoms!
Lovely image, Jeremy!

What a beautiful tree and what wonderful pictures of it. I am the last one who would know what kind of tree this is. The only thing we have in Iowa like that with thorns are locust trees, and those look more like daggers than these spiky things.

I've never seen this tree..it's beautiful..

It is the Bauhinia blakeana (common known as the Hong Kong Orchid Tree)

Very nice shot! No idea on what kind of tree? 43, still very young!

Those branches look like they're just waiting to be climbed. Inviting but impassible. The flower's are stunning and nature protects them with thorns. No idea what it is but it is a wonder.

Sooo, you are 43... But you look like a teenager Jeremy:))
Some people always remain kids...
I don't know what tree this is, but I know that the contrast of blue sky and pink blossoms is really great! And these mixed limbs create a nice composition.
Good eye Jeremy... after 43 years;) LOL..

Gosh, that's a combination of beauty & not so. I don't imagine many creatures climb that one...including kids !!
Guest 12-Aug-2005 06:27

Shawn Patrick12-Aug-2005 06:06
They are very pretty. I couldn't tell you what kind though, sorry.

I don't know but they sure have beautiful limbs.
Guest 12-Aug-2005 04:23
Oh yes, that's the Pink Blossomed Thorny Limb Tree. :-)
Brian McAllister12-Aug-2005 04:22
Beautiful tree for sure. I have no idea what kind it is though.

Unfortunately I can't help you... But I can tell I find the branches of this tree quite expressive!
