June-1-2005

Sometimes you have to splurge.
It is getting close to summer and the days are getting longer. I wore the same pair of sunglasses for six years...that is, until they met their demise on a climbing trip. The other day, I had a moment of weakness and purchased a pair of sunglasses that were much too expensive. On top of that, I paid RETAIL!
These sunglasses did give me the opportunity to shoot a self-portrait today. Okay, it's more of a portrait of my camera. But then again, since starting this photo-of-the-day project, I almost always have my camera with me. I'm learning that the things I see around me...the events that I witness, good or bad, are the "building blocks" of my identity.
I guess a photo of my camera is more of a "self-portrait" than I thought.

These are such cool looking sunglasses. I wonder if you can get some like this that have prescription lenses as well. I love how you can see the photographer in the reflection of the glasses. Classic!http://www.weareyewear.com/Frames.html

Hey I just splurged on shades too. . Good vision is priceless, so the investment is well worth it.
