We made a quick trip to Mt. Rainier on the 4th of July weekend and stayed 1 night at the Paradise Inn. The next morning as we came down through Paradise Valley, from one of the turnouts we saw two fox kits. Never did see their mother. They are Cascadia Red Fox (Vulpes cascadensis). Their den was obviously under the snow and they were soaking wet. They were just as curious of us as we were of them. We spent about 45 minutes photographing them. Had to make sure to close the door of our car as it appeared at one point that they might try to go in looking for food. We did NOT feed them in any way as that is not good for their long term survival!
