The photo is like a beautiful collage with successive layers applied one to the other. With no perceptible depth, the shadow is the thinnest. The wet sand is probably the deepest element but ironically it's also the flattest. It was the thick layer of water that struck me first. It looks slathered on like frosting. And then glowing in this setting is the star of the show, the illuminated seagull casually taking dinner, but no notice of its grand surroundings. It's a lovely photograph.
