Girdling an invasive species of tree. IMG_3919.jpg

There are many plants that have been introduced to Micronesia over the years. Unfortunately for the islands, they often crowd out native species and have no natural predator to keep them in check. Girdling of large trees has been effective in killing some of these but is labor intensive. On a positive note, the invasive trees are easily killed by girdling and the wood is put to good use.
