BF5T0990.jpg

The second bridge at Tallberg was completed in 1919, replacing the 1891 one.

It was at that time the world's largest stone-material bridge for standard gauge (presumably there were larger ones for narrow gauge in Switzerland) and it is interesting to see its arch-like design, very far off from today's bridges. This design tells quite a bit about the engineering status of that time - the pre-stressed concrete design philosophy was not there yet.

The bridge was replaced in 1994.
