Red Wing-Tipped Faery

Tallahassee / Quincy, Florida

We had a wonderful cool rain yesterday evening, and it did a lot to cool down the blistering heat we’ve had in Northern Florida. I decided to take advantage of the rain washed air and cooler temperatures, so I grabbed my camera and took a stroll in the moonlight. Suddenly I noticed a little glow in one corner of the yard, and since it didn’t look quiet like reflected moonlight, I decided to investigate. I found this delightful and rare Red Wing-Tipped Faery resting quietly also enjoying the cooler air. She was quite shy, but I managed to take this quick shot before she darted away. Isn’t she a beautiful little thing?
