This is certainly overdoing it but I first selected all, went to edit>transform>warp, in PS CS2, and pulled at the boxes to straighten out the curves. Then I used the crop tool and trimmed off the parts that had to go and before clicking ok put a checkmark in the perspective box on the tool options bar. Then I pulled the end boxes so that the sides of the crop box were parallel to the sides of the windows.

Wow thanks Isabel! I did try to correct it a few months ago but was obviously unsuccessful (using distort, mainly). Just too many lines and bows for me to manage. I thought I had trashed the picture but found it last night on my external HD. I'll follow your instructions and try myself (so please don't delete this picture just yet, if you were going to). I think with some sharpening (it's not been touched at all other than your adjustments) it could be a nice image -- it was a lovely fireplace that, FWIW, was directly on eye level -- I was standing directly in front of it (not a window is what I'm trying to say). I understand the inherent distortion at 18mm but this was over the top, the worst I've ever experienced. Helen
