I didn't think the sepia was doing anything to enhance the shot so I got rid of it converting to black and white. I darkened the hair a bit, blurred the dolls head and lightened the irises and tried to add some catch lights in the eyes without making it look too artificial. What might have helped would have been to have some sort of reflector bringing light into the childs face. A large sheet of foam core could be used. A slight touch of reduced flash (which I generally hate and which would have caused redeye, no doubt if not bounced) would have brightened the face. This is a very sweet image. Oh...I slightly cropped the top to remove some architectural structure...and then used the smudge tool to smooth out what was left. Also used Noise Ninja to remove some of the noise.
