A few of the 24 members of our Road Scholar group heading for Pueblo Bonito. We had to endure 20 miles in and 20 miles out of bone jarring dirt road in Program-Supplied vans to get to the Canyon, so we really appreciated navigating by foot! (The roads are left in very rough condition to discourage heavy tourism to protect the ancient ruins.) The ranger who took us on a tour told us that budget cutbacks have disappointed photographers because opening time is later and they can't arrive to photograph a sunrise. They've cut back on rangers too, so it was unusual for him to have such a large group to lead. Formerly, there would have been two for our group of 24.
