Can't tell you used flash, it just looks like lovely light. Great image!

Beautifully sharp and not obvious that it is a flash photo.

Before purchasing my R1 macro flash kit I used an SB600 hot shoe mounted flash and a StoFen diffuser. Used with a Sigma 105mm flash I could get very close with the lens set to 1:1 and the aperture at f/13 or smaller and get good light. In addition to the light the flash also helps to stop motion.
