Mono Lake 2010_07

There is no other place on the Continent quite like Mono Lake. Pillars of calcium appear to have grown out of the lake due the drastic water level drop since the Los Angeles aqueduct began diverting water from the Owens River in 1913. The water in Mono Lake is twice as salty as in the ocean. The formations create a most interesting and unique landscape and is a real treasure for photographers.
Most photos were shot with a Singh-Ray Gold-n-Blue polarizer filter which can emphasize those colors, depending on the desired effect.
