ITGC: Precious Metal

Poway, CA

When a friend asked to borrow this Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8 IS lens I hesitated. Although I don’t use it very often, I do value it and consider it to be precious.

We met this morning to make the transfer. The recipient is not PaDer but is a GaDer (Gallery a Day) guy who is a prolific shooter and will be using the lens at the San Diego Indie Music Fest IV on Saturday. I’m sure you know who he is, and his picture is below.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
1/60s f/4.5 at 50.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

"yah, about that lens....It sure is nice, but it sure is heavy. Like I didn't know it was so heavy.... it only bounced once, and that 77mm UV filter really saved the front element. Course I'll replace that $50 filter that's in 100 pieces, it's on its way from China now.
Thanks, buddy"
(don't worry Dan, it's a conversation I had with myself once. (True, and I love this lens!)

Lee Rudd27-Mar-2008 22:53
how close does he need to get to his pizza? I hope it comes back all gleaming :)
Jonathan Popp27-Mar-2008 22:49
Yes that's a precious lens and camera. Of course you are loaning it to a world famous pizza eater....

Dan Chusid27-Mar-2008 21:44
Must be quite a lucky guy to rate that kind of honor.

Hope he at least bought you breakfast!

You're a generous man to lend out that nice lens. Nice photo too. Sorry to hear about your other precious metals though. I think you'll find a lot of people can relate! :)
