There is another technique for hand held slow shutter speeds - Gerard (gmc) explained it - and there were some example picts posted as well. He put it in continuous shoot mode and took a series of 3-5 shots. It does several things - decreases the anticipatory motion (moving to the next shot, getting ready etc), eliminate the hand movement of pressing the shutter, increases your odds of a quiet space, etc If all 3-5 shots are the same then it probably is not a good technique for you. I usually get at least one that is noticably sharper than the rest.

It might be a bit of motion as it was a hand held shot. I tried using flash and got a nice big blind spot in the middle of the mosaic. So, my thinking is it is just a tad fuzzy due to shake. lol I don't think doing shots like this are good for one's heart. Not only do I not breath but I think my heart stops for a bit. LOL

Captivating. I've never seen this kind of Mexican work before. It's fascinating. Hard to take your eyes away. One question: Is this shot a little soft, or do my eyes deceive me?

Arrrggh! I wrote this nice long winded reply and it disappeared. LOL well, the short version is...good question, I try to find out a bit about this before the end of competition.

Simetry is great and the red and black frame is just right for it. I like diferent cultures and this is so colorfull and makes you to explore it.

What a beautiful piece - I like how you have framed it and allowed the light to work across its face. Shirley - do you no anything about this - it seems to relate to a circle of life - is it spiritual, cultural or ...?
