Definitely one of those "funky, soft squishy things made of rubber"! When shaken or bounced, it emits a flashing light pattern for a couple of seconds. It was actually rather funny trying to photograph this: shaking it hard enough to start emitting a light, then get it to stay still quickly enough to get the shot in - before the lights go out. I discovered these soft squishy things like to wobble and move and twist. They DO NOT like posing quietly for 10s exposures! :-) Regards to all. jnconradie

Very colorful and quiet interesting indeed!! Dog toy? Yes, its possible. Also looks like the funky, soft squishy things made of rubber. Having the "eyes" in there is a nice touch! They also make decorative light bulbs of that kind... -Cat

Heck, I'd say, "Dog toy!" It looks like something my dogs would play with. And I'd add the effect of the lighting is wonderful.
