They are very different -- interesting bird overall, I never knew what an old coot looked like (except the few relatives).

Larry, you are right, the legs and feet of the Coot look almost mechanical, I will go back later to try for a better photo of them.

I have large feet and have wondered why folks call me an old coot. Thanks for clearing that up. The bird's feet look almost robotic.
