Futility.

Near Eel Pie Island

This was cropped from a long distance shot.
Poor quality picture, good story.
The Coot landed in the river and started paddling upstream.
He got nowhere fast, the river was flowing at twice its normal rate.
The Coot paddled faster, his speed over the water was incredible, I have never seen one paddle so fast.
He tired a little and was going backwards down river quite fast.
A few minutes more and he realised what was happening, so he spread his wings and took off to fly upriver.

Awesome story John. Something I think most of us have done once or twice.
