I live on long island, NY. Apprx. 2:00 a.m. while online, this hemiptera bug, rather large, apprx. 1/2 " , and a dark Gray in shade w/an of whiteish horizontal lined belly loudly flew in front of meinto me laptop. I carefully placed it in tissue and outside. The temp was 29° and when I shortly thereafter let my Dogs out for the night, the big lay there looking dead. I picked it up and brought it inside. Within a matter of minutes, it warmed-up and was back to walking and flying at s normal pace. I have it in a clear bowl secured tool I know it is safe to put it out in the cold. Is this a dangerous bug that will contaminate my home or stolen me and my Dogs? How can Ann insect grow to be this size and live in these extreme cold temps.? Please advise. Thanks.
