Playing catch-up yet again as, once more, my photographic duties take third place to my paid work obligations and driveway construction commitments. As I did not manage to find the time today (that would be Friday) to take any photographs, I will instead show you this one of an old abandoned Mercedes. This is not the first time I have captured this old decaying car for posterity: the first time I photographed it - way back in the depths of January - pre-sciatic nerve pain - it was in slightly better condition than it now is. But I suppose that is the way of things when they cease to be of any use. This particular Merc still has much about it - including the leather seats, steering wheel, dashboard and four wheels; it also has all of its doors and panels (except the boot), and grille (although it is missing the Merc decal). A bit of a more productive day on the driveway front today. We had to get more breeze blocks, since we decided that we needed to build two retaining walls instead of just the one. Building the walls took most of the afternoon, following which we piled the earth up against them. I spent most of the morning phoning around for prices for gravel, and ended up ordering 5 metric tonnes of unwashed 20mm whinstone gravel from a nearby quarry. The drive is really beginning to take shape now, and is large enough for three cars! I suppose there is nothing for it but to go out and buy another two cars!
Yikes! I'll soon need to redecorate the living room!
