On the whole, today has been something of a depressing one. I’ve spent from 10am until 6.30pm painting and am so coated in paint that I don’t know how to get it all off – there is so much of it in my hair that I don’t know how I will get it out before work on Monday.
What’s worse is that after yesterday’s elation about how the cottage looks, today I feel as though I have made no impression at all – I’ve done second coats on the ceiling and walls in the sitting area, painted the beams white in the kitchen area and then done the first coat of cream on the ceiling and beams so the only ‘new’ bit of painting is the ceiling and beams but they look so patchy they look worse than they did before I started!
Adding to my general gloom is fact that the Spurs lost and now look very unlikely to qualify for Europe with only one match to go and two places off seventh. Pah! This was even with the rituals of lucky hat, shirt, mug and pants all carried out in full.
The only brightness in this gloomy day has been supper with Becky and Iain, our neighbours. This was an oasis of joy in an otherwise barren day!
Being so busy and then dashing out in the evening meant I didn’t pick up a camera all day until very late at night. I haven’t yet looked at my two pics but I doubt I will feel they are a moment of glory!
HHHmmmm – well, it’s sharp, it’s colourful but it’s a pretty dull pic really. I suppose the best that can be said of it is that it does show off that gorgeous buttery yellow of the new wall to a tee and it does symbolise the only nice part of my day – cooking for Becky and Iain. Why no shot of the room? Well because the kitchen table and chairs are piled up in there so I can do the painting in the kitchen. Patience is a virtue!
Last year, Spurs did better.....and two years ago, DM and Mike_R were out shooting!
