Maurine O'Connor is an exceptionally talented abstract expressionist who prefers to spend eminently paintable days frolicking with her petted and pampered sheep-- thus the title of my painting. Further observations on this quirky behavior accompany the photograph "Maurine Among Her Sheep" -- http://www.pbase.com/shoshanna/image/39779019 -- which can be seen in my "Oregon's South Coast" gallery.
March 27, 2006. Maurine died today from lung cancer. She was a painter, a spirit, a force of life, and wherever she went and whatever she did, explosions of color accompanied her.
It was only fitting that this day ended in a sunset that had been splashed with all the vivid hues Maurine so loved. I like to think that as she departed, on her way through the door she paused to paint the sky.
