Maurine O'Connor died today from lung cancer.

She was a painter, a spirit, a force of life, and wherever she went and whatever she did, explosions of color accompanied her.

I like to think that today, on her way through the door, she paused to paint the sky.

Thanks again for sharing all these incredible moments in time...some of my favorite places growing up here on the coast, and still to this day.

Great God Almighty, this is sensational, other-worldly, heart stopping, and perfect for your friend Maurine. Phil Douglis just told me about you when I asked if we could mount photos of paintings on Pbase. He assured me we could, indeed, and gave me your link, and I've just spent half an hour looking at some of your truly magnificent work, and feeling the slight case of the blues I had today evaporate in the face of all this beauty. Your painting of Maurine and her sheep is so lovely, and it felt right to get to see your friend's smiling face among her woolies, as a tribute to her and her spirit. I think even I will "rest in peace" better tonight, after having seen this image! Thank you!
