Definitely a case of "getting down and dirty" (and closer). I think its always better to get down to the level of the subject (as I did with this shot -http://www.pbase.com/sheila/image/39274622 It could be that you did not want to impose on their space but most people don't mind - if you give them a nice smile!

Ithis would have worked better closer up, optimally with the group of women filling in much of the frame starting at the lower righthand corner. The wall itself is dead space in the photo. The viewer wants to see the women and what they are doing.
