Water drop

This is approximately the 320th try ;-) Nikon is not a star in focussing and this is just about the only acceptable shot I got. Not satisfied yet, not by a long shot so I'll keep trying. If anyone has any tips I'd love to hear them!

Contrast and sharpness enhanced.

Nikon Coolpix 5400
1/4000s f/7.3 at 24.0mm iso50 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Gorgeous! I myself did an experiment with these suckers last weekend. 305 shots, 5 that I thought were acceptable. I also had focus problems. I manually focused on one spot on the water by placing the water dropper there and using it as a focus subject, but I think that somehow stabilizing whatever is doing the dropping of the water so that it always drops in the same place is the next step to sharp focus every time. I'm going to try it again this weekend, so if you want more advice, stop by my gallery and I'll let you know how it turned out. You look though as if you've really gotten the hang of things! Excellent work!

Great photo, could I be allowed to use it for my business card?

manually focus the camera. If the camera is in a fixed location you can dial in the focus and have it in focus for every shot. water drops would be a difficult focus subject as it is in constant motion.

you rock
