Great painting like effect. Beautiful in its artificiality of lighting.

Exceptional. Wish I could see a large print of the original file. (You could very easily sell these).

I don't know what to admire first: the architecture itself, or how it was captured.

Simply THE BEST. It seems a perfect computer image. One of the better photos in pbase to me.

Fantastic composition and contrast. The color is just perfect, almost unreal. The color of the sky makes a nice balance to the red/yellow-like color inside. /Anders

A J French: Averaging was just performed to reduce noise and elongate cloud movement without having to do a prohibitively long exposure (people walk through this passage often). Each photo used for averaging has identical settings and composition (more at:http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/noise-reduction.htm ). Thanks for the interest.

amazing work, did you use different exposure for each of the four shots?

Lovely image. Great composition and like how you were able to expand the dynamic range by combining your exposures.

It is such a joy to come back to this gallery, Sean, and discover new gems. You continue to weave your magical spell by integrating geometry and history, creating a mood with color, light, shadow, pattern and form that always manages to spark an emotionally spiritual response. That sky alone is worth the price of admission, and when framed within the elegant intricacy of such Gothic splendor, it just takes my breath away.

Your image reminds me of a moment of reverence I photographed during my recent trip to Burma athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/40166522 . Although your image was obviously deliberately and meticulously planned and crafted upon a tripod, and mine was a spontaneous, hand-held impression made while my knees were still trembling from the staggeringly beautiful sight before me, both of us use scale and depth to bring spiritual meaning alive within the portals of venerable arches. You find your spirit soaring in a violet sky over Cambridge, and I define it in the scale relationship between an abstracted worshiper and a golden deity, yet we both use similar structures to add context, and draw the viewer deeply into our imagery.
