Self Portrait, Navajo Nation

This is a highly personal image - one which has taken a great amount
of work to achieve the desired results. It is still a work in progress...but it
is almost 'there'. In response to several requests...here's some of the
meanings behind this image:

I am very, very small - almost unrecognizeable in the photograph.
Tiny, in fact, in comparison to the gradeur around me. This reflects my
perspective that I am a very small, but important part of a much larger world...

The light in the image is shining not directly on me, but on my back.
This reflects my preference not to be in the limelight, or the focus of attention.
I prefer to work in the shadows, or 'behind the scenes'.

The negative space here (shadows) form the shape of a large crucifix, which is
at the center of the image. This reflects my belief and concept of the Almighty as the center (creator) of the universe.

These are a few of the thoughts and feelings behind the 'portrait' as I see it,
and as I created it. As always, photography (art) is highly personal,
often reflecting the state of the artist at the time of its creation. This image is no exception.

You're very small... but are those your legs? You may be small, but you are also very large. As we all are. THAT is what I get out of it, but then, we all see what we want to see, right?

very original :( and vey difficult too to do somtehing new in that type of picture )
dis you try to enhance a bit the grey at the top, because horizontals lines seems interesting. ( of that would not have to 'eat' your silhouette )

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." A famous American quote.
Though it was said in a different context I am getting the impression from the photo - especially after reading your thought about it - that you're a true visual explorer who seeks for immemorial sights, not to say Genesis visions. This image reflects the insignificance of man in comparison to nature but the eminence of his vision.
