I like this shot, the geometry and texture together with the interest elements and their long shadows make it a very nice one.

This has always been one of my favorite shots of yours, Jen. I llke it much better in black and white. It seems simpler and cleaner to me. It's meaning is sharper and clearer as well.

A tremendous shot. Such power. Your work is exceptional.

Jen -- I just realized that you photographed this same taxi in another context, another color, and placed it within another gallery. It is athttp://www.pbase.com/image/25861929. This other image shows us two people instead of just one, covers a larger area, and includes more than five additional long shadows marching across the textures of this brick street or plaza. You built that picture around ominous symbolism of those shadows. The shadows in this image do not seem as ominous, because we can see their origins. In the other shot, however, many of the shadows drift across the plaza without people attached to them. Because this shot is sepia, it appears to be warmer than the black and white version, which is cold and severe.

What remarkable texture in that street, and what power in those shadows! Your vantage point has created both of them. There is a lot of tension in this image -- the man appears to be anxiously awaiting someone, and that someone is not there yet. It only a small urban encounter but you have exquisitely used it to symbolize a human value that we are all familiar with -- punctuality. Did you just see this out of your window? Or did you call this cab and then keep him waiting while you took his picture without him knowing it? (Clever Jen!)
