whole picture seems a bit too busy to me, tho

I took the picture back into PS & gaussian blurred the b/g, and John, I have to admit, it does look a bit better (now WHY didn't I think of that to begin with?!?)

At a wider aperture, you might have been able to single him out.
Or even now, just select him and blur the rest. There is very little around him to make it look un-natural.

I liked the jogger and the birds...but this one the best..(wow I made a decision) because of the treatment, the energy, the overall composition. Actually I love this photo.

I like it but don't love it. As you said, it is so busy that the focal point is sort of lost in the activity. But it clearly is a good shot. You did good for yourself today I see. I still haven't taken my photo for the day :-(
