you really should get up earlier..this is a lovely image!

Interesting story behind this excellent picture.

The automatic, electronic way of taking pictures seems to cut us off from some effects altogether.

Could you scan the slide and post it "pure"?

Me, too, Adal! ;) W.

Very nicely done ... with the partial hand, slide and white background, this could easily be ad copy. Great job.

A very fascinating image. Well done.

Excellent image, Adal.. i like the way we get a glimpse into a world of film we might never have seen. Beautifully executed... both this image and the misty one.

This image is amazing for a number of reasons - 10 that it is a photo of a slide against a light box, 2)that you shot it 25 times to get the correct exposure and 3)well - just because it is an amzing catch! Trully beautiful! I can see why you like it so much!
Anna Yu03-Aug-2004 16:03
Superb is the word that comes to mind. The framing makes it even more beautiful.
Guest 03-Aug-2004 12:38
What a compelling image! What I especially like about it is that, it's almost as if you are holding up a window or a portal into this other world (the forest), and all we have to do is step into the image or slide, and we'll then be in the forest. The image is very fantasy-like.
Guest 02-May-2004 11:56
I like them too, and this one is especially appealing to me
RodTO01-May-2004 21:52
Great shot! looks like a window into another dimension!

Pall Gudjonsson27-Apr-2004 18:13
Excellent !!!
Guest 27-Apr-2004 11:58
Digital age or not I will always have a soft spot for slides, especially those as beautiful as this one which, would be superb even before considering what you had to go through to get it! The way you presented this today is also very elegant. Welcome back Adal! We're lucky to have have you...

CJ, I've said "camera pressed against a tree" not handheld!!! LOL (a very steady tripod, the tree was, btw).
CJ Morgan27-Apr-2004 03:38
A handheld repeat of the same exposure 25 times more? Quite a miracle
that it would turn out well at all. But apparently it did.
Guest 27-Apr-2004 00:53
Interesting concept~ V Niceee!!
Adalberto Tiburzi26-Apr-2004 19:54
CJ, I remember.
1972, spring, 5.00 am in the morning, top of monte Fogliano, waiting for sunrise.
Zeiss Ikonta, Metrastar exposure meter (super sensitive, cadmium sulphure).
Saw that scene!
Well, 1 sec. f/5,6. No tripod. Camera pressed against a tree. Bended knees, not to obstruct the lens.
But the camera hadn't 1 sec exposure, the slowest was 1/25.
So, I pressed 25 times the shutter, always on the same frame, to reach 1 sec.
And then, 6-7 times more, just to compensate the reciprocity effect.
And now? Copied by another camera, in a totally automatic way...
Ah, those were times!

What a great shot . Really cool idea and a beautiful image on the slide .Great to see you back Adalberto .
Larry Ahern26-Apr-2004 18:51
That's great!
Guest 26-Apr-2004 18:46
Ah the beautiful slide... Superb the underwood in this.
CJ Morgan26-Apr-2004 18:36
That's an interesting presentation. Well done Adalberto. As for the image
of the woods itself, I imagine what makes it most appealing is how that
particular momentary light is showing the appearance of the woods. I mean
a different moment with a different lighting, and the same view of the
woods might not look quite so appealing. Perhaps a good example which
illustrates that we don't so much shoot "objects" but rather "appearances" --
how object look under a given set of light conditions. Which in turn
somewhat speaks to the issue of how important paying attention to
the momentary light is to the process of making images.

400 Iso 1/125 f/8, a classical street shot, Pete. ;-)
virginiacoastline26-Apr-2004 18:29
Nice steady hands! Which impresses me more than the exosure, LOL! Lovely scene BTW
Guest 26-Apr-2004 18:10

It looks as though you are holding a magical window to another world. Brilliant!

That is beautiful! I would love to see it on screen for a slide show.

Adalberto Tiburzi26-Apr-2004 16:10
Tech note: my just bought super-light SLR "street cam", a 300D 18-55mm kit lens.
Slide and camera both handheld against the dull sky.
Guest 26-Apr-2004 15:58
That is GORGEOUS!!!! Soooo pretty. I love the way you've shown it here!!!
Guest 26-Apr-2004 15:58
Brilliant concept!
Vinay26-Apr-2004 15:57
Great. Like both the pictures.
Jill26-Apr-2004 15:55
Adalberto this is fabulously executed. How you captured the image in the slide is amazing even with the lightbox. Love this!
