February 21 2004:
Meeting Real People

Today was a rather special one for me, as I met up with fellow addicts Linda and David, who live just a few miles away. I cannot describe them both as fellow PAD people as David insists on being called a PotD person! But hey, what I will say is that they are both quite wonderful! I’m usually quite nervous about meeting new people but I felt so at ease straight away, a tribute not only you both, L and D, but also to this community we are all part of. So thanks for the hospitality guys, and extend my thanks to the hen whose egg went into such a scrummy quiche! I think I have just met a couple of cool friends!

We celebrated our own ‘coming together’ by that of the three counties that meet here by the Blackwater River. So here’s David typically ignoring the Speed Camera sign at the Hampshire boundary, the county in which he was born. Watch out for the Surrey and Berkshire signs featuring Linda and yours truly in the coming hours....

Awesome! Must've been a good time. A lot of people I talk to find my 3 frames per second a "speed camera". And I enjoy listening to the D2H/Mark II shutters on dpreview...."cl-cl-cl-cl-cl-cl" (x40)

Pleased to see you 3 had a good day! It's funny seeing photos of each other on what is largely a 'pen pal' type of thing (dunno how else I can describe Pbase friendships!) A great idea... it was David's wasn't it?

I like the comment about David ignoring the speed signs... exactly HOW well do you know him? I have been in a car with him once, and that was enough... I think he thought it was his motorbike, instead of a Vectra estate with 2 human passengers and 2 dog passengers!

BTW - I have - at last - posted some photos!

That's cool that you've been able to meet fellow PADers.

How cool. If you are ever in San Diego, CA look me up. I would love to meet you as well.
