January 11 2004:
Light, Camera, Action!

I thought you might want to see the studio chez Pettit. So here its is; halogen spotlamp shining on my subject using various backgrounds. The red place cloth is draped over a waste paper bin, but in front of that you'll see my black paper on top of which is my blue lens cloth. By the way, my lamp is actually standing on a little plastic filing cabinet which is on its end!
Anyway, this is one of two 'requests' from the Hemhauser clan - don't worry Jeanne, your one WILL happen, it is still in the planning stages :-)

Most interesting. I see the tin is not as big as I thought it was.

I went to Home Depot and bought several halogen lights. The 2 lights on a stand were only $29.95. Then I went to Wal-Mart and bought some fabric that was 99 cents a yard. I bought white, off white and some colors for spring. I tape the fabric to a white board on a table top easel.

My "studio" is in my granddaughter's bedroom. She's going to be back next weekend, so I expect her to take lots of pictures of her toys using this setup. :)

One of these days I'll get "good" lights, but for now this'll do. Most of my photos are taken outside.

Thanks for posting your setup!

Simplicity at its best.

This is SO encouraging Ray!
For the last few days I have been looking on with envy at people's photos of their 'studios' with big photographic lamps, and thinking there was no hope for me! David used his lamps at my charity ball, and I started to dream about owning some... now I see I don't have to!
I am dithering over making a commitment to the PaD club, partly because of the time factor, and partly because everyone else is SO good!
I always enjoy looking through your photos though, and learning a little about the area in which you live... how far away are you from L & D?

Making a list! Fabric store, Home Depot....very nice camera! Mine is a G5 which I love but still havent learned the skill of fast action shots with it...oh well.

Very interesting image.
