curiosity

Hillsboro, North Dakota

the lights went out here in the 1950s...the Gem Theater apparently opened in the 1920s, but was renamed in 1942, after Traill County, as Hillsboro is the county seat...it is an aging curiosity at this point, although evidently efforts are underway to save it

A relic of yesteryear, but love the rusty patina on the big sign. Maybe restorable to its old glory days. V

Terrific sense of rust and decay and that makes it special. Sure would be great if they can save it.

I think this is probably the fate of a lot of old movie theatres in small towns. What a great shot this is, nostalgic and evocative. V

Oh how I would love to be there to photograph that, preferably much later in the day and ideally with a great sunset sky. Stellar capture of this most attractive old sign. ~BV~
