The Alien Sisters

Zola and Bailey, two Sphynx cats, were at the veterinary hospital today where I work.
They were there to be spayed.
I couldn't resist getting my camera and taking a few photos of them.
This was shortly before their surgery and you can see the bandages over their IV catheters.
It was very difficult to get them both to stay quiet and still long enough to get their photos.
Both are very sweet and so personable.
They just wanted you to hold them and love them.
As you can see they are hairless.
When you hold them it feels like you are holding a hot water bottle wrapped in a chamois cloth.

Great title and image with lots of expression. Could they be looking for a heater? Wow those blue eyes. So neat!! V

A very fine capture. I have to agree with Isabel's comment.

There is something Egyptian looking about these two - quite strange. Neat shot in their rich setting :) V

You managed two very nice poses for this double portrait. Well done, Jane. Vote.

A great portrait of both of them with the different expressions.

A really wonderful photo with great expressions and light. V

On another topic, I agree with Isabel. Very often the creation of "pure-breds" just results in animals who are sadly afflicted with congenital problems. A happy, healthy mutt is the best.

Terrific image of these odd looking cats.

Beautiful girls! My daughter has had two Sphynx cats because of her allergy. They are very loving, mostly I think because they're always cold. I likened the feel of their skin/coat? to the pink Spaulding ball of my youth. I do believe the breed should never have been developed. They are born handicapped because of the lack of the protection a coat would give them. They are very high maintenance because their skin still produces oil and they get dirty - ear wax builds up unattractively. Loving yes, desireable at least to me, no!

You delivered a very nice portrait.
They seemed to sense something is up.
Great eyes and nice red backdrop.

A great portrait of these two, but what bizarre looking cats, as sweet as they may be. V.

Great portrait Jane. They are so expressive. Really like the title and your description how it feels to hold them. "V"

great work Jane and can see you like the cats

At first glance I thought that they were ceramic. I'm glad that their personality makes up for this unconventional looking pair. Your photo against the red is very good. It looks as if it were done in a studio with good lighting.

Great, I might actually get nightmares from this. But you did a great job photographing this interesting duo.
