In Britain, we still have many fingerposts like this in our rural lanes. Prior to the 1960s, they were more widespread, but their design was not compatible with faster moving traffic.
The ones around today are a mixture of originals, replicas and refurbishments. This one has two different typefaces so I imagine the two plates facing the viewer here may be original, but the other two not?
Of course, there are plenty of finger posts used for footpaths, cycleways and local directions within town for example.
I'd be interested to know if fingerposts are/were used in your country for motor traffic as the Wikipedia article only mentions Britain and Ireland.
