_MG_9070 Placed parsley from container with butterfly on mountain laurel

The male Eastern Black Swallowtail butterfly resting for perhaps an hours before flying off after it had emerged from a chrysalis which I kept in a plastic storage container on my kitchen counter so I could watch it. I missed its emergence - even though I was checking the container every few minutes since I notices the chrysalis had been transparent and I could see the wing colors and knew that emergence was imminent. (My first ever observation of this miraculous transformation)

This is amazing!! I had the same experience with this species some years ago... I kept watching but I missed the emergence! Your photo of this fresh beauty is spectacular. VV
