Heterotheca camporum

Prairie Golden Aster has creeping rhizomes as well as
a defined taproot. It is a perennial from 16-40" tall
with mostly lance-shaped alternate leaves to 3"x.8". The
1/2"-1" wide discs are yellow and the twenty one to thirty
four 1/2" long rays are yellow too. Native to from MO to
IL but introduced here in the S.E. US with great success.
